If you’re looking to play a little golf while you're in town, the Alisal River Course is a great option! It’s scenic, relaxed, and a fun way to take in the Santa Ynez Valley. Plus, it’s only about 10 minutes from Mattei’s Tavern, making it an easy activity if you’re spending a little extra time in the area!
One of our favorite spots over the years, Fess Parker Winery is just a short drive from the town of Los Olivos. If we hadn’t chosen Mattei’s Tavern as our wedding venue, Fess Parker would have been a close second! It’s a great place to relax, enjoy amazing wines, and take in the beautiful vineyard views — a must if you’re spending time in the area!
One of our favorite spots for a cozy lunch or a fun dinner vibe. Nico and I always try to stop in for lunch whenever we’re in the area, it’s one of our all time favorites. Think of an Italian restaurant with a California spin - both rustic and charming without being too quiet or too lively! The food is always amazing, the waitstaff are wonderful, and the cute patio is a bonus. Plus, they’re great at accommodating dietary restrictions, which is a big win for some!
This is one of our go-to spots in Los Olivos and a place we’ve found ourselves stopping into time and time again over the years. The Bubble Shack is the cutest little spot to enjoy a glass of bubbly, and it never disappoints. There’s just something about it that keeps calling us back - easygoing, charming, and perfectly Los Olivos. Grab a glass, linger a bit, and soak in the magic of the town the way we always do!
Just a short drive away, Solvang is the cutest little old Danish town and such a fun place to explore! With its charming architecture, bakeries, wine tasting rooms, and sweet shops, it feels like you’ve stepped into a storybook. It’s perfect for wandering around, grabbing a pastry, and taking in all the quirky, European-inspired charm. A great stop if you’re looking for something a little different than hitting the wine trail!
If you haven’t heard of The Maverick Saloon, this might be your sign to check it out! This popular little dive bar is the perfect late-night spot for some fun. From locals to visitors passing through, it’s always full of energy and good times. Lively, unpretentious, and full of character, it’s one of those classic Santa Ynez spots where a night out always feels memorable!
Little tip: bring a dollar or two to leave on the ceiling and mark your spot :)
